Setting up your first sales pipeline

Updated over 8 months ago

Creating a sales pipeline in NetHunt CRM helps you visualize your sales process, track the status of deals, and move opportunities through different stages. Whether you’re new to CRM or simply new to sales pipeline management, this guide will help you get started with your first pipeline.

What is a Sales Pipeline?

A sales pipeline is a visual representation of your sales process. It helps you track every deal from start to finish, giving you a clear view of where each opportunity stands. With NetHunt CRM, your first pipeline comes with some pre-set stages to help you get started, but you can always change or customize them to fit your business process at any time.

Step 1: Accessing Your Sales Pipeline

After signing up and setting up your NetHunt CRM account, your first sales pipeline will automatically be set up with pre-configured stages. You can find it in the Deals section on the left-hand sidebar. Your pipeline will look something like this:

In the image example, the default pipeline includes these stages:

  • New

  • Presentation

  • Negotiating

  • Won

  • Lost

These stages are just a starting point. You can start working with them immediately or modify them to better reflect your sales process.

Step 2: Customizing Your Pipeline Stages

NetHunt CRM lets you fully customize the stages in your pipeline. If the pre-set stages don’t match how your sales team works, you can easily change them to fit your exact process. Here’s how:

  1. Click on the three dots menu next to Deals in the left-hand sidebar and choose Customize fields.

  2. In the fields customization section, click Stage to modify the current stages.

  3. Add, delete, or rename stages based on your specific sales workflow. For example, you might add stages like Demo Scheduled, Proposal Sent, or Contract Signed.

  4. Once you're satisfied with the setup, click Save to apply your changes.

These stages can be modified any time, so you can continuously adapt your pipeline as your sales process evolves.

Step 3: Adding Deals to the Pipeline

Once your pipeline is set up, you can start adding deals:

  1. In the Pipeline view, click on the + New button located in the top-right corner.

  2. Enter the deal information, such as the deal name, potential value, and probability of closing.

  3. Select the appropriate stage for the deal.

  4. Save the deal, and it will appear in your pipeline under the selected stage.

Step 4: Moving Deals Through Stages

As your sales process progresses, you can move deals through the stages of your pipeline. Simply drag and drop the deal cards from one stage to another as the opportunity advances. This makes it easy to track your sales activity visually and focus on the deals that need the most attention.

Step 5: Monitoring Your Pipeline

NetHunt CRM allows you to sort and filter deals based on criteria like deal size, probability, or the date they were created. Use these filters to focus on the deals that matter most and keep your sales process efficient.

You can also view a summary of your pipeline, including the total deal value and the number of deals in each stage, helping you monitor the overall health of your sales pipeline.

Step 6: Adding Another Sales Pipeline

If your business handles different types of sales processes, you might want to add additional pipelines. For example, you could have separate pipelines for different product lines, regions, or sales teams.

You can easily add another pipeline in NetHunt CRM by following this guide.
