The workflow allows you to update related records depending on the behavior or interactions you are having with your customers or prospects.

Let's imagine you have a prospect in the contacts folder and a potential deal related to that prospect in the deals folder. If the prospect replies to you, you might want to move the deal to the negotiating stage.

In this cases the update related records is your best choice:

1) After adding a helper "Wait for e-mail", select the action "Update related record":

2) Select the related record you need to update, in this case - a deal from a contact:

3) The result should look similar to this:

This way, any time you get an email from a prospect and the prospect is linked to a record in the deal's folder, the deal will be moved to Negotiating.
