Data types

Set up NetHunt CRM to automatically catch useful information from emails and Google Contacts.

Updated over 8 months ago

NetHunt pulls in useful info from tools like Gmail and Google Contacts, things like customer names, email addresses, and company details. By default, this data usually lands in the Contacts or Companies folders. But let’s be honest, that doesn’t always fit the way you work.

That’s where Data Types step in. Think of them as smart, behind-the-scenes rules that help you send incoming data exactly where you want it. Whether that's a Leads, Partners, or any other custom folder. You also get to choose which fields get filled in automatically, so everything’s neat, accurate, and exactly where it belongs.

How to set up your Data types

Head to your Settings > Data types tab. By default, you see three folders in three different sections - Contacts data, Companies data, and Deals data.

1. Click on one of the sections to start:

2. Select a folder where you would like to save related information:

⚠️ You may have two Folders for storing Contact information: Clients and Partners, for example. It's important to note that you can only maintain one folder for Contacts and one for Companies. Data types setup is not available across multiple folders, allowing you to choose only one for each Data type.

ℹ️ If you find yourself with multiple Contact folders, please don't hesitate to contact our team. We'll gladly assist you in consolidating your data into a single folder.

3. Map available Contacts/Companies information into the respective fields in your selected folder:

✅ If your folder does not have some fields for mapping, you can go back and add them through Settings > Folder and field management, and then resume the process.

Now all information from Gmail and Google Contacts will be automatically registered and sent to folders you have tuned:

That way, you can make each of your folders "default" so that NetHunt will save all the valuable information there automatically in the fields you have chosen.
