Connect to our Beta version of Data Studio integration in the settings of your workspace:
If you work with several Google Accounts and profiles, you might need to change browser user to pick relevant account for report building.
The next step is to check fields that can be demonstrated with the help of the tool. NetHunt Data Studio connector supports only basic fields and timeline items for now (text, number, date, dropdown, location). In the future there will be more options to check information from Statistic or Formula fields. System fields with date and text values are also supported.
You can use all of them in case if you plan to create a report with specific information they contain. For different chart types you can display your information in many ways.
On the top-right corner, you can see a couple of buttons such as:
- Create Report - creates report with selected values;
- Explore - display and preview report with selected values;
- Add a field - adding a custom formula field with different functions for calculation values from a couple of fields/date or text formatting/simplifying values etc.
In order to create a report click on either 1 - Create Report or 2 - Explore options from above.
Now your data, basically, is being wrapped into one of the chart types you select. Using one of the chart types suggested by Google Data Studio (1) or from third-party developers (2) you can form up the general look of your information.
Different types of charts require different types of information and fields which you can find now in place in Data tab under chart types.
If you want to change the chart position, amount of bars/slices/columns, background, entity, grid and color, you can use the Style tab.
Let's say we have a couple of salespeople and they sell in several regions. You want to demonstrate who sells more. You have the following records structure:
Set up the main dimension you need to display - Managers (1), and then breakdown by the value (2) - Payment type field with cash or credit card values.
Adding the main metric you want to check, how much money they brought or Paid (3) field and Sorting (4).
Now you want to change the value, to check what are they selling the best - - Model (5) field will aid you.
Change the style of your chart by adding more number of values.
And add more charts with other information if you need to drill in.
Now let's see how many unique sells are made per month during the year. Records structure the same as in previous case. Let's change the type of the information displayed. Go back to your field selector and change the format of the date to monthly.
Your date range dimension parameter will show monthly structure.
ID is the system field that stands for unique entries made in that certain folder. Count ID means number of records created and in a combination with Date range dimension it gives us how many deals were made during a month.
Select the necessary Data range
Add more charts, this time with Geo elements. For instance, you would like to check how many different models of cars were sold in each state.
