Make Gmail the default mail application

Set up Gmail as your default email client for seamless opening of email links in Gmail

Updated over a year ago

You might've noticed that if you click on any email address in the NetHunt CRM web version, it will redirect you to a default messaging app on your desktop:

Luckily, there's a simple solution to ease your everyday routine! In this article, we'll learn how to fix it and cover the configuration of Gmail both for Windows and iOS.

⚠️You must be using Gmail with the extension of NetHunt CRM.

1. Launch Gmail in your Chrome browser and log in to your account. Look for the gray double-diamond icon labeled the "protocol handler icon" on the right side of your address bar. If the icon is not there, proceed to step 3.

2. Clicking the icon will prompt a box to appear. Just select 'Allow,' then 'Done,' and you're good to go to the default app settings on your computer!

3. However, if the protocol handler icon isn't visible on the right side of your address bar, navigate to Settings -> Privacy and security -> Site settings -> Additional permissions -> Protocol handlers:

In the new window, make sure to allow sites to ask for handling protocols and delete those web pages that are restricted (if there are any):

Go back to Gmail, refresh the page - and voila! A desired double-diamond sign should appear.

4. After you open the system settings, find an option to change the MAILTO link type:

Select Google Chrome by default:

5. Finally, refresh your NetHunt CRM web page (don't be afraid to do it a few times before all the settings across your device are upgraded), and enjoy sending emails using Gmail with a pre-filled address in a separate Chrome tab🪄
